VEIN REMOVAL

Dr. Mash and her staff are pleased to offer three different solutions to the variety of vein issues she treats at both office locations.

What treatments are available to correct spider veins?

Fortunately we have a laser in each of our locations that is specifically designed to treat spider veins. Often your spider veins are combined with larger veins which will require saline injections to correct. For this reason we include both approaches when asked to treat most vein issues.

Please explain the injections; how do they correct my larger veins?

Dr. Mash has developed a unique modification of the basic vein injection procedure called Sclerotherapy with Saline Flush. The procedure has four advantages over traditional vein treatment:

1. There is much less bruising.

2. There is no chance for ulceration or breakdown oif skin at the site of injection.

3. It results in a much more effective eradication of unwanted blood vessels.

4. Fewer treatments are needed for final results.

Is there pain associated with this treatment?

The injections can cause some occasional mild discomfort, however we use a cooling system which blows a stream of cold air over the treatment site which makes the procedure much more comfortable.

What about my bulging veins?

The procedure required for bulging veins is commonly called vein stripping; we know it as ambulatory phlebectomy using the tumescent technique for anesthesia. It is a very safe, in-office procedure completed within two hours with local anesthesia.

Is there any down time with this surgery?

Most patients are able to return to work and resume regular daily activities the following day. You will be asked to use support hose for 24 hours to compress the injection sites.

Does any unsightly scarring result?

Ambulatory phlebectomy provides a cosmetically elegant technique for the treatment of your unsightly varicosities. To remove a veins, tiny incisions are made along its length so small that in three or four months the scars are barely visible.
